Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Decriminalizing history, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for Decriminalizing history:

  1. Interactive viewer: Multipage viewer creates a nested "main" landmark because the site uses the Mirador IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) viewer for objects and this viewer presupposes that it is the main content in a webpage. As of now this issues will remain, until the viewer is replaced with a viewer component that complies with WCAG.
  2. Color contrast: Low contrast on objects views because the template chooses colors from the object thumbnail for the text color and background color and in some cases the contrast is just below the AA criteria. We are awaiting the "color-contrast()" css function that will make dynamic colors easier to work with in terms of AAA color contrast levels.
